One more down... many to go

Yay! Scarlet's bedroom is finished! Doesn't she look excited about it? It's either because she appreciates all of the hard labor we put into her new room or because she just discovered the buttons on her toy cell phone make noise when you push them.

Fine. It was the phone.

But her room did turn out pretty cute.

I did a terrible job of documenting the house before we started tearing into it. When we originally bought the house this room had dark wood paneling, popcorn ceiling and... wait for it... red and blue LONG shag carpet.

We tore up the carpet and there was kind of a wood looking tile underneath. We went back and forth on flooring for a long time. In the end we decided just to throw some paint on it. Our goal is to rent the house after we move out so now we can just put in some flooring and it transforms from bright little girls room to a more neutral room with blue walls.

Scarlet has really done well in a toddler bed. Surprisingly so... She will occasionally get up after we put her down for a nap but on average she just goes to sleep. She even sleeps in still. When she does wake up, she opens the door, closes it behind her every time, and waits on the top of the stairs. When I see her and say hi, she always says, "Mom, I'm wake!" like that is the most exciting news I will hear that day.

Scarlet is a big fan of her pacifier. She is only allowed to have it when she goes to sleep but she was always trying to sneak them around the house when she was in a crib. I have never mentioned anything about what she should do with her pacifier in her bed. I assumed I would have to fight it from her every time she woke up, but no. She wakes up, lays her pacifier on the bed and walks out the door. One time she walked out of her room with her pacifier still in her mouth and before she walked down the stairs her eyes lit up, she ran back into her room and came out a second later pacifier free.

She's a big girl now.

The floor is the best part of the room!!! And it was just an afterthought? It's awesome! You guys amaze me with your skills. You are more handy with a paintbrush than Napolean Dynamite is with a bow-staff. Beautiful! And that picture of Scarlett is rediculous!
