So You Think You Can...

For all the true fans of So You Think You Can Dance, you may remember a guy from last season named Jaymz. You may not have been a big fan of Jaymz... let's face it, many weren't since he didn't last too long... but he is a So You Think You Can Dance star. And since Today's Generation dance studio is really the coolest, Jaymz recently made a trip to Moses Lake to teach the girls some hip hop. Now I haven't seen the final results, but I hear the numbers are killer. Here are some picture my mom sent as proof of our celebrity (yes using the term VERY loosely) dance teacher.

Our little Scarlet has become the travelling queen. She will go on her 5th plane trip later this week. I LOVE riding on planes with babies. I never want to ride alone again, especially on Southwest. Of course I only love it with babies that are not self-propelled yet.

Since I started carting around the kid at the airport, suddenly the world has become a more convenient place. I'm skipping to the head of lines so I won't have to steer the stroller around all those curves. I got to go through 1st class security the other day. I get to wheel her all the way to the plane and my stroller is waiting for me when I get off. And the best part... pre-boarding. There is little better than the front row on an airplane. All that leg room! Mmmmm

She's really good on planes too. I feed her at takeoff to make sure her ears pop and she almost always falls asleep for the first 2/3rds of the flight. When she wakes up she smiles and laughs until everyone in the near vicinity is staring and "aw"ing in our general direction. And when I leave the flight, I always get at least 5 or 6 people from the back of the flight say, "well isn't she a great little baby. I didn't hear a peep out of her the whole time!" The sweet life...

Jon's work flew me to Tucson this week because Jon was stuck there for a few days. He's been the travelling fool the past few months. I swear he takes a flight to work more often than he takes a car to the office. His bosses are pretty nice about letting me tag along every now and then. Sam Perrins Ross lives down there now with her husband and 1-year-old boy Cooper so we played in the hotel pool and lounged by the tv for a couple days. It was fabulous.

Now I get to head up to Moses Lake on Friday. Courtney is competing for Washington State Junior Miss on Saturday, then I'm doing some dance choreography for my mom's studio and then the family reunion! Here are some pictures of the first trip Scarlet took to Moses Lake to meet her aunts and uncle.

Thanks for nothing!

I just received an email from my cousin Cali Emig who was so excited about my fabulous blog. And as I was reading her kind remarks I remembered, I have a bone to pick with her! Here's the story. So when Scarlet was about a week old, I went to visit Samantha while Cali and her family were over. Cali gushed admirably over my little newborn just as she should. Then in one seemingly innocuous comment, she cursed my baby for the rest of her life (or until she gets hair).

She looked down at my little child and said, "oh, look at her flat ears up against her head! All my kids pop out after a few months. Her's are so nice!" Genetics... I think not. It was definitely the power of suggestion that turned my child's flat, nice ears....
Into.... these. By the way, not to brag but is this outfit not adorable? Red shoes!
Anyway, though her comment may have made my baby's ears go awry, I am a kind and generous person and have moved on. That and deep down, I realize it is probably not really Cali's fault. But when my child is fully grown, is taught about genetics, and is able to blame her dad and me for her height, uncontrollably thick hair and a pointy nose that moves when she talks (thanks to dad!) I can at least say, "well honey, you can blame you dad and I for all of that. But the ears, go talk to your cousin Cali." :)

Ok...So She's a Tad Big

Just got back from the pediatrician. Fine and healthy... and still over 100th Percentile for everything. And... getting two bottom teeth! She is getting big too fast. She's 18 lbs. 4 oz. and 27 inches. I don't have room on my computer to upload my latest pics of her, so here's a blast from the past. Scarlet at 2 weeks old in her first Sunday outfit. I like to call this face... disapproval.

What is this thing?

I really am not sure what I'm doing, but I was chastized recently for not having a blog. I hate to disappoint so why not? Plus, I think my kid's just as cute as anyone elses... elf ears and all... so it only makes sense to show her off :)

Here is my most recently pic of her at 4th of July. We just shot off some fireworks at a friend's house. At first they scared her a bit but after a while she would get impatient while they were lighting them because she wanted to see the lights. Tons of fun.

And while I'm at it, here are some of my favorite pics of the past. This is a picture of me at 3 months old and Scarlet at one month old photoshopped together wearing the same dress.

And finally, this is Scarlet with her cousins Kate and Owen (Sam Miller's babies) when they were about a month old. Keep in mind Scarlet is just about 3 weeks older than them.
