I have finally wrapped up the trips in blog form. But this is what we did to wile away those hot summer days at home...
Asher spent a time this summer enjoying the company of a new friend. Asher finds most friends to be not so much to his liking. The big ones take his toys and don't enjoy being whacked. The little ones don't follow him when asked to and also do not enjoy being whacked.
But then Asher discovered a friend that was just his speed. The baby didn't move much, or ever. But he never grabbed a toy and even through a barrage of whacking, kept a permanent smile.
Yeah, it's the baby on the diaper box. We might need to get him out more.
We had a fun 4th of July over at the Lanman's house. Up until about noon that day we had absolutely no plans. I, for whatever reason, had gone to the trouble of making Scarlet a 4th of July romper this year... and then had no plans for the day. That is the problem with holiday themed clothes... the pressure to wear them for the perfect occasion!
We even got to help feed the desert tortoise they recently inherited. Nobody knows for sure how old said tortoise is but the tortoise has been around for at least 50 years. 50 years! Mind boggling...
A fun night and the only pictures I have are in the car on the way there. Sometimes I think it would be nice to be famous so the paparazzi was taking pictures of us all the time. Documentation of all of life's events done for you. Though celebrities complain, I bet Hugh Jackman is grateful for the adorable pictures of his son and him splashing through the waves on their beach vacation.
Scarlet is swimming like a fish... an uncoordinated fish that is missing a fin or two but a fish nonetheless. And she has no fear of the water. She will tackle any slide, diving board, or any other swimming challenge sent her way. We have mastered the pencil jump and the cannon ball. She has ever landed some mean belly flops in her attempts to dive. It has been a fun summer.
Rhode has been a little less brave in the water but give him a floatie and he will splash around with the best of them. I know he has got some toughness in him somewhere, it comes peeking out every now and then.
Asher has continued his love of the water. He would spend every minute of the day wet if I would allow him.
Well one random day, we headed to the rec center pool and lo and behold, it was carnival day. What does that mean? Well it means there were a lot of people there and they had a plastic "take a picture" wall up.
We also took a sewing club field trip out to Gilcrease Orchards. We picked apples, tomatoes and plums to our heart's content. It was hot. It is always hot. But very enjoyable. The camera battery died after this sole picture.
The field trip day ended with a half frozen bottle of apple cider for everyone. I am blissful just thinking about its refreshing deliciousness...
And now to the vacations.
